Meet The Face Behind Stedfast Home Care Services
I’m Yolanda P. Threat, the Administrator of Stedfast Home Care Services. I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.
Since my high school graduation and subsequent enrollment in nursing school in 1973, I knew I had found my calling. I began my career as a nursing assistant and soon became a licensed practical nurse (LPN).
During my time as an LPN, I was introduced to the emergency room, acute care and med-surge at a prominent hospital in Texas. I continued on my goal of becoming a Registered Nurse and did in fact obtain my license. It was then I was introduced to long-term care at a Developmental Disability facility for children and young adults. What began as a part-time job, quickly became a full-time position. I was then recognized for my leadership ability and promoted to Director of Nursing within a month of coming on board with this facility, which was owned and operated by Beverly Enterprises. Under my direction and leadership, our team was able to achieve numerous awards for excellent surveys and exceed our corporate goals.
During the ten years there as Director of Nurses. Due to my husband’s profession, we relocated to Georgia in 1989.
I obtained employment at Georgia Regional Hospital in Atlanta as Lead Nurse on a unit which provided care to children with serious physical and mental disabilities.
In my commute of forty miles for over two years, I decided to stop at a senior care facility which I passed twice a day nearer to my home. As faith would have it, the only position that was available was the Director of Nursing. I applied, got the job, and used my passion, experience, clinical and team-building skills to help improve the quality of care and compliance with Federal and State Regulations. I worked at this facility for ten years. I wanted to expand my knowledge of long-term care and accepted a position as a Nurse Consultant for a company for five years. I obtained a wealth of knowledge and experience managing the Nursing departments of several homes in my assigned region. After gaining a wealth of experience, knowledge and my passion of serving the Senior population, I decided to establish Stedfast Home Care Services in 2016.
Since starting my business, I have tried never to lose focus on my goal of providing individualized care as safely as possible to help our patients achieve their dream of remaining with dignity in the comfort of their homes. My team is always growing and consistently striving to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to provide superior care that meets the highest standards.
The part of my business I find most enjoyable is the face-to-face interactions I have with my patients. Though I am often pressed for time, I try to maintain a close relationship with my staff and patients alike.
With patients, I build a relationship of trust that they can rely on feeling confident that I first and foremost have their best interest at heart and will partner with them to ensure they receive the individualized care and services they need.
As an individual, I believe what sets me apart from others is my commitment to honesty, integrity, empathy and compassion. I run my business based on respect and dignity for all.
I attribute my success to my driving desire to provide the kind of care I would like to receive, and my staff share my passion. We guarantee patient-centered care based on each individual’s actual needs, along with efficient communication and updates for the client or family member.
To know that I have played a part in making the lives of my patients better and heard they are more comfortable upon availing of my services has given me immense satisfaction over the years and continues to inspire me to do more.
When I am not at work, I enjoy traveling and visiting new places. However, with the current pandemic making going anywhere a bit of an issue, I enjoy relaxing with a good mystery novel. I additionally have lovely grandchildren and a fantastic husband that I love spending quality time with whenever I can.
I also believe firmly in serving God, am active in our church and a leader in the women’s ministry.
I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
